desk situation in my room at Brock Uni
Can't believe that its been nearly a month (just two more days) since i left Singapore. I know i was supposed to give regular updates about what i have been up to and trust me, i did wanted to post like literally everyday while i'm away. But i was so tired when i was traveling in the States. I woke up early in the morning, walked like 10km the whole day (and for almost everyday, not kidding) and by the time i reached back to the Airbnb, i was more than ready to knock out. And of course, the cycle repeats. As tiring as it was, i really had lots of fun (minus lugging two luggages around whenever i leave or arrive at a new place, more on that later) and i can't wait to share my trip and photos over here soon!
Its also been a week since i arrived in St Catharines (Niagara Region) and in Brock University! Still trying to juggle everything - cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping and studying. And to be honest, the school's so huge and widely spread out that i had trouble figuring out my bearings for the first couple of days. It made SMU really small in comparison. St Catharines is a really small city, so there isn't much to do around here (other than Niagara Falls and some hiking places). It is afterall away from all the hustle and bustle of those big cities like Toronto, so i guess i like it since its pretty peaceful and laid-back here somehow (although school is not haha).
Being the only Singaporean in BU can be rather interesting, yet intimidating at the same time. Interesting because it feels as though you are starting everything afresh? But intimidating because everywhere you go, everything is so unfamiliar to you. I guess i should say that i miss all the familiarity, like family and friends. Coming here is like losing a little of my old self? At least i think i have been trying to keep my Singlish in check (i miss having my lah leh loh in conversations) because i'm pretty sure the people here (friends included) don't get what i'm talking sometimes. And honestly, i have no idea what they are talking about too, especially when they talk too fast or have a really strong accent) hahaha. But anyhow, everything's pretty good so far! Can't wait for the school trip to Niagara On-The-Lake, winery and Niagara Falls on 24 September!
About 3.5 more months to go before i get to eat legit rice and noodles (give me my ban mian and chicken rice please). Can you believe that i have yet to find any nice food around here? Ok, maybe there's that not-too-bad sweet and sour pork fried rice at Pen Centre and sushi stall in school. Well, its good but way too over-priced. Can't wait to find a bubble tea shop soon though haha.
Ok, i promise that i will share photos from my trip to LA and NYC in the next post!
Stay safe and happy always, guys x
